Body armor will last until fully destroyed by gunfire or other types of damage and will block the full damage even if it has only 1 point of armor left. Level 3 vests are ridiculously op atm. your health was low enough for the shottie to kill you in one shot, even with the armor. well you were down to about 55% health after the first shootout, so it seems like a legit kill from the shotgun. Those of us that adapt accpting how a game is will be SOL.
