I skipped about 60% of the book and don’t feel I missed anything. I couldn't put this book down. The writing is clear, but there's nothing special about the writing style. i was sad to read the last page. This book relates the complex relationships of the parents, Marilyn and David, whose passionate marriage often leaves little breathing room for their four daughters, and those daughters.

Grace, in particular, felt like a bit of a superfluous character. David and Marilyn's seemingly too-good-to-be-true love did occasionally feel a bit much although its effects on the girls' assessments of their own lives is an important thread of the story.
